Handyman in Palm Beach Gardens, FL

Palm Beach Gardens began as John D. MacArthur's planned garden city, incorporated in 1959, and it has kept growing west ever since. Today it holds a long list of gated golf clubs and, on the west side, whole neighborhoods still being built in Avenir.

That mix shapes our work here. Many calls start with getting through a gate with the right paperwork, and many others are about making a brand-new house livable. Text (561) 816-5974 with your community name and what you need.

Homes in Palm Beach Gardens

The city's first homes went up in the 1960s, after MacArthur announced his plans in 1959, so the established streets still have houses from that era. Then came the club communities: PGA National, BallenIsles, Mirasol, Old Palm, Frenchman's Creek and others, built out over several decades with golf-course homes, villas and condos.

The newest growth is out west. Avenir is planned for close to 4,000 homes, with builders still delivering houses, and Alton sits nearby. New construction does not mean there is nothing to do. It means a builder punch list, bare walls, empty closets and windows with no blinds.

If your home is one of the older ones, the usual rules apply: pre-1978 houses are tested for lead paint before we sand or cut, and a pre-1980 popcorn ceiling is tested for asbestos before anyone scrapes it.

Getting through the gate

Gates are part of daily life in much of Palm Beach Gardens. In club communities, vendors are commonly expected to register in advance, keep a certificate of insurance on file with the association and arrive inside set hours, and gate staff usually confirm with the owner before letting anyone in.

When you book, tell us the community and, if you know it, the management company. We get our COI to the association ahead of time, ask you to add us to the guest or vendor list, and park where the community wants service vehicles. Some clubs limit vendor days during the busy months; if yours does, we plan around it.

In newer neighborhoods like Avenir, builder warranties are often still in effect. Before you hire us for something the builder should fix, check your warranty so you don't pay for work they owe you.

Our most requested jobs here

Move-in work tops the list in Palm Beach Gardens, and most of it fits into one or two visits.

In the older club homes, the requests shift toward grout and caulk refreshes, doors and sliders that stick, and pool deck pressure washing. We don't add outlets or run power inside walls for a TV; that part belongs with a licensed electrician.

  • TV mounting, starting at $149 for screens up to 65 inches and $199 for 66 to 85 inches with a two-person lift
  • Curtain rods at $49 per window and blinds or shades at $45 per window, with the visit minimum applying
  • Furniture assembly: dressers and desks from $129, bed frames from $149, wardrobes from $199
  • Shelves, mirrors and art, with the first five pieces inside the minimum visit and $25 for each one after
  • Move-in punch lists at $349 for a half day or $679 for a full day, materials extra

Season in the clubs

Seasonal owners in the club communities tend to come down around November and leave around April. The checklist before they land rarely changes: fresh AC filters, new smoke detector batteries and a walk-through for drips and stains. Our filters and detectors visit is $149 for up to six battery smoke detectors and all filters, with filters at cost.

Rainy months, about late May through October, overlap most of hurricane season, which lasts from June 1 to November 30. Owners who leave for the summer often book a $149 departure visit and a home watch plan from $189 a month, so someone checks the house and sends photos after storms.

Questions from Palm Beach Gardens homeowners

Can you get into PGA National or BallenIsles?

Yes, with your help. Gated communities let vendors in through the owner, so we ask you to add us to the gate list. If the association wants our certificate of insurance on file, we send it before the visit.

I just closed on a new home in Avenir. Is it possible to knock out the whole move-in list at once?

Usually, yes. Send the list and some photos, and we will tell you whether it fits a half day ($349) or a full day ($679). TVs, blinds, curtain rods, shelves and furniture can all go on the same visit.

Should I call the builder or you for new-home problems?

Check your builder warranty first. Anything the builder owes you, like drywall cracks or a door that never latched, belongs on their list. We take care of what is yours to fix or add.

Will you still come out to the club communities during season?

Yes, within each community's rules. Some clubs restrict vendor hours or days in the busy months, so we confirm those rules when you book and schedule inside them.

How is a Palm Beach Gardens visit priced?

The first hour is included in the $149 visit minimum, and additional time runs $85 an hour. Flat-rate jobs like TV mounts and furniture assembly have their own starting prices, which we confirm before booking.
